On the way to Carinthia - from project start to delivery in just 7 months
Sometimes you only realize what you’ve achieved together over the last few months when you’re loading up…
The transportation of our 2 MW electrolysis plant for Kelag started a few days ago with the destination Arnoldstein in Carinthia. From project start to delivery: 7 months – planned, implemented and completed on time. For us at FEST, this is an important milestone and a good example of how projects work when all the gears mesh.
The plant is part of the “DeCarB – Decarbonizing Carinthian Bus Transport” project. From 2026, around 140 tons of green hydrogen will be produced there every year. This will enable 36 hydrogen buses to be operated in Villach – quiet, locally emission-free and reliable in daily use.
The holistic approach is exciting for us: in addition to the hydrogen, the waste heat is also used sensibly. After successful commissioning, the aim is to use the waste heat from the electrolysis to generate energy and feed it into the district heating system. Efficiency means keeping an eye on the entire system – not just a single component.
It cannot be taken for granted that a project will run so smoothly from planning to implementation and delivery. It requires reliable partners and a team that works together professionally. Thanks to Kelag and all those involved in the project for this team effort. This is how the energy transition becomes reality step by step.
