On December 10, the Minister President of Lower Saxony visited the company FEST GmbH and obtained first-hand information about the planned electrolysis production facility to be built in the BaĂŸgeige and about the locally planned hydrogen area.
“The transformation process of the energy industry towards greater sustainability is one of the key tasks of the coming years. This naturally includes the rapid expansion of renewable energies. At the same time, storage capacities for renewables urgently need to be created,” said the Minister President. “I am expressly relying on the innovative strength of our small and medium-sized enterprises. As part of the energy transition task force, the state government will also continue the exchange in order to improve the framework conditions for such projects.”
Matthias Authenrieth, Managing Director of FEST GmbH, was also delighted with the visit. “We are of course delighted that we, as project developers and SMEs, are on the Prime Minister’s radar and that our voice is also being heard politically.”
Christoph Willeke (SPD), member of the state parliament, drew the Prime Minister’s attention to the project. “With this project, we are creating well-paid jobs here in the district of Goslar and helping to solve energy policy problems in terms of sustainability and independence. It is projects like these that show us that business and sustainability are not mutually exclusive,” said Willeke.
Oliver Hennig, Commercial Director of FEST GmbH, adds: “Now it’s about picking up speed. In order to produce green hydrogen here on site on the planned scale, we don’t have the local renewable energies. We hope that the Bad Harzburg town council and all other authorities will give the green light and that we can make progress with the expansion as quickly as possible. For our part, we are in the starting blocks.”
