A milestone for green hydrogen mobility in Hesse
On June 17, 2025, we celebrated another significant project success at FEST: both plants in the pioneering project with ABO Energy were handed over for the official opening on schedule. The project comprises a wind turbine, our 5 MW electrolysis plant (hydrogen production) and a hydrogen filling station with a trailer filling station. This marks another milestone for sustainable energy supply and green hydrogen mobility.
The official inauguration of the hydrogen filling station in Hünfeld-Michelsrombach marks the end of intensive project work – and at the same time the beginning of a new era: electricity from regional wind energy is converted into green hydrogen on site, providing emission-free mobility in Hesse. A real lighthouse project that shows how sector coupling can work in the energy system of the future.
Our commissioning is largely complete and all performance tests have been successfully completed. This means that the conditions are in place for ABO Energy to put the plant into regular operation in the coming weeks.
